Background


ELMA or Export Logistics Model Award is a trade award, given out by the Office of Service Trade & Trade Logistics, Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce to outstanding companies who excel in their logistics operations.  As DITP has the mandate to promote the logistics of the exporting sectors of Thailand, any activities that promote the development, the efficiency and the excellence of logistics and supply chain management of companies in export sectors are well within its mission.  One such attempt is through organizing annual trade awards to select and showcase excellent companies in this field.

Started in 2007 as Logistics Model Award, the award name was changed into ELMA, or Export Logistics Model Award, in 2012.  ELMA 2013, its 7th Edition, will be awarded in early September in the Thailand International Logistics Fair (TILOG) held at the Bangkok International Trade Exhibition and Convention, or BITEC, in Bangkok.



Objectives

1. To publicize ELMA Award as a world class standard for management efficiency.
2. To promote innovation in the area of logistics systems, to set role model for Thai enterprises, and to encourage actual implementation of international logistics standards by local operators.
3. To upgrade logistic management of Thai operators to match international standards and ensure that LSPs who have earned the ELMA logo will be highly regarded by overseas LSPs for their  logistics management efficiency.
4. To promote public image of Thai industrial sector in terms of standardization and readiness to serve as the ASEAN regional Hub for trade and logistic services.




Criteria for Assessing

The Export Logistics Model Award use the assessing criteria modified from the international awards accepted by the business world.

This is to make sure that the awards are up to world-class standards and that the recipients are encouraged to improve and develop their operations to be competitive globally with sustainable business practices.
The world-class quality awards that ELMA were based on include:

  • Malcolm Baldrige Framework
  • European Framework for Quality Management
  • Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) Model Version 10.0 (Supply Chain Council)

Who Can Apply?

Any companies registered in Thailand for exporting with manufacturing, importing and/ or trade services.
