The international trade
arena has become fiercely competitive while overall market demand for logistics
services continues to expand rapidly in terms of volume as well as speedy and
accurate delivery. As a result,
logistics service users tend to base their decisions on service quality rather
than price. Current trends also indicate
growing emphasis on non-price factors such as LSP’s reputation and track
record, the quality of services and team members, modern IT systems, technology
and equipment, extensive operational networks, business sustainability, and
more importantly, ability to offer advice on logistics efficiency improvement.
Export Logistics Model
Award or ELMA is one of the activities organized annually by the International
Trade Promotion Department with a view to promoting Thai exports, taking into
account current needs and challenges posed by on-going shifts in the conduct of
business transactions and changes in international trade patterns.
ELMA award contest plays a
major role in developing Thai LSPs’ logistics management capability, which has
become the key to international trade competitiveness and regional trade
expansion. In addition, the award helps
to improve corporate image and customers’ confidence in Thailand’s logistics
system, in line with Thailand’s aspiration to become a regional Logistics Hub.
Moreover, ELMA award also
indicates that the winners have achieved a high level of logistics excellence
based on 7 categories of assessment criteria set by ELMA, namely, business
vision and leadership, strategic logistics planning, customer & market
focus, IT applications for logistics purposes, HR focus, logistics processes
and bottom line corporate performance. All
the above factors have a direct impact on Logistics
Excellence and the company’s ability to offer excellent goods and services,
create value-added and enhance customer satisfaction by offering innovative
business solutions and effective problem-solving.
